NEF Quality
« on: February 24, 2006, 03:37:04 AM »
Not just about Handis, but  :D related.  I have been reading the posts regarding NEF/H&R quality and they have made me waiver in my decision to send another frame in for more barrels.  The last thing I want are problems.  I think the whole NEF line of firearms are a super value - when the quality is good.  The rifled slug barrels are as accurate as anything you can buy at any price: the Hunstman is one of the easiest to get along with, non-fussy, and accurate ML's on the market: my .17HMR just amazes me with it's accuracy (for $119.95 - unbelievable shooter), and my numerous Handis all shoot decent to very well. (2" to 3/4") The cost to change stocks, forends, accessories is really inexpensive also.  I love their lineup of firearms. I am more than willing to accept having the less than fine finish, and some gunk to clean up.  BUT poor quality is never acceptable, and I don't want to deal with it. Anyway, about 6 weeks ago I sent a Tracker slug barrel in to the NEF service department because the soldered on rear sight had fallen off.  This barrel is about 15 years old, but the soldering job had clearly failed.  Yesterday I received the barrel back.  The sight was replaced, the barrel had been reblued and actually finished to kind of a soft satin.  I have never seen a nicer NEF barrel finish.  It was very nicely packed and boxed, with a NEF owners manual, and other literature.  All at no charge.  I am more than pleased with the quality and I would call this first rate service.  I guess I will send in that Handi frame for the BC barrel now.  Hope I get the same person working on this one! :D
