Short False Pin?
« on: March 03, 2006, 04:03:01 AM »
I recently purchased a 12" long 3/16" diameter brass rod at the hardware store.  I originally bought it to drop down the barrel of my 243 handi in the event of a stuck case.  I hope this is an acceptable practice.  I planned on cutting it in half (6") so I can carry it in my pocket and that would probably be heavy enough to do the job in the field.

I studied the instructions on the faq sticky about trigger assembly removal which I plan on doing to one of my NEF Pardner shotguns for two reasons.  One reason is it just feels rough and has almost an eight pound pull.  The second reason is for the experience.

I cut off a small piece of the 3/16ths diameter brass rod and put it in a drill.  With sandpaper it was no problem to get it down to .181 as per sticky.  Then I goofed.  I cut it a little short.  Instead of .530 (per sticky) it reads .490.  Is this an issue?  Should I make it over?  The whole process using brass instead of steel only took five minutes.

What say?
