i have a NEF. 223 and i broke the firing pin ( dry firing ) any way i ordered a new one and got it in ,,,But , it comes through to far and when it hits the primer it gouges and leaves a burr and will not let the barral open up ... any ideals

Id first chech to see if the firing pin return spring got put back in its right place. DR.

I've tried unsuccessfully to get the search to work, Fred M has a thread on firing pin fitting, my guess is the pin needs to be fitted for length/protrusion from the standing breech. He posted his measurements if you can get the search to work and find the post.
