Would be nice to see some discussion of the actual war instead of the dribble that has been posted here lately by people who must spend most of the day hiding from BLACK HELICOPTERS . I am as SOUTHERN as anyone and all but a few of my heroes were CONFEDERATES , but some people need to get over the fact that we gave it our best shot and it was just not enough . We lost and there must be reasons for it . The strongest do usually win and that is not a conspiracy but a fact . Both sides did what they thought they had to do to win . Much like my advice to the democrats , GET OVER IT you lost .
I really don't know to respond to such colossal ignorance and shallow thinking.
That's like a Jew discussing the holocaust, but calling it "dribble" (a malapropism for "drivel," I suppose) to denounce it as a plan for evil genocide, or discuss the reasons for it-- and wanting instead to talk about the mechanics of how it was accomplished.
This is a narrow, myopic view, which too many have fallen into, seeing the Civil War as a political curiosity rather than a meaningful historical event in the development of world socialism and the destruction of freedom everywhere-- starting with America.
The Civil War was nothing but a Whig-socialist act of imperialism, characteristically sacrificing lives to the supremacy of the state and special interests. It was clearly not a legal act, as many scholars have proven-- and none have even argued otherwise, with any more logic than Henry Jaffa.
However when someone takes away from your discussing it as nothing more than another Super Bowl, you start crying "conspiracist" and going off into your little knee-jerk tirades about black helicopters and foil hats, without knowing a flying fig what you're talking about.
If that's your simplistic view of political science and philosophy, then just go grab your beer and go back to watching football, since this seems likewise to be "just a game" to you.
Hoewever we're trying to discuss the deeper, underlying political REALITY here, than Sherman at Antietam or whatever: AMERICAN LIBERTY, and BASIC HUMAN FREEDOM-- words that probably don't even register in your vocabulary, except as synonyms for "privilege," and that Americans ought to do as they're told by their government, or "country--" and be grateful for the privilege of BREATHING.
As for "conspiracy," ever think that maybe the world WASN'T a giant monster trying to swallow the US, requiring US forces to control every inch of it in order to be safe?
Talk about paranoia! Especially considering that the socialist revolution BEGAN via the Civil War.
If you're too dim to see these facts of political causation and effect-- or to even want to LOOK, but just continue on in psychotic denial and simplistic ignorance which better conform to your world-view, -- then you must really be hopelessly lost.
Anyway, it's clear that thread-trolls like this, protest too much to believe the protesting; no one's forcing you to post here, so you must really beleive that the Civil War was over nothing but a "disagreement" regarding the meaning of the law.
What utter, simplistic, idiotic CRAP; NO disagreement can be that bloody, without a substantial dollar-value attached-- particularly when the MEANING of the law and history were quite clear, requiring outright totalitariarn suppression of this truth in order to accomplish it.
Follow the money-- even you can do that; and the Civil War, like any socialist coup, concentrates an AWFUL lot of money into a VERY small number of hands.
And the goal of political near-omnipotence over the statesdoesn't hurt either; that WAS the objective of the Whig Party after all, i.e. to centralize the entire US under one all-powerful regime-- both nationally and globally.
Lenin used to refer to this type of thinkers as a "useful idiots:" useful in propagating the lies of socialism-- and an idiot for BELIEVING them!
But then small minds need small worlds; pity that more people haven't learned the true lessons of history, and are thus doomed to repeat them.
