I was at a gunshop that has a M77 MK2 in 204 for $465

good price or not?

Hairtrigger, Is this the standard Ruger M77MKII in walnut or SS synthetic? Or is it a ultralight model? I just checked Gun America; Very few under $500.00 dollars & the best deal was $450.00 for a SS stainless ultralight in .204 Ruger. So it appears if the gun is new, thats a good deal.

Blue rifle, wood stock.
Not heavy barrel or laminate stock
Brand new in the box

Hairtrigger, that's a good deal IMHO. Rugers have good hunting rifle features & this one has a 24" barrel plus comes with the scope rings. It would make a good short to medium range varmint gun. You'll most likely need to have a good gunsmith sweeten up the trigger pull. I'd go for it with confidence.

I thought it looked like it was priced right.
Problem is I have way more varmint rifles than I need from 221 Fireball to 222 and 223 and 22-250 and 220 Swift. I do not see where I would benifit from a 204.
I would need new dies, cleaning rod and guide, more room on my reloading shelf for bullets, and have to make room in my ammo cabinet and also my safe

I think I just talked myself out of it.
If it had been chambered for 223 I would have brought it home
