Turkeys loads
« on: March 04, 2006, 06:18:12 AM »
I finally got the time to do some test loads. They were all from encore 12 ga. With 90 grs of bm3, 3" bpi shot cup, 1 3/4oz hevi-shot 6s, tc choke and variflame 209 adapter.

I think the turkeys in brown county this year are big TROUBLE. I was also lucky to get to two first season permits this year. The first one i will use the encore on and hopefully the second i will try with the bow.

Just took the time to look at one pic but it looks good! What distance?
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

Looks like you are set out to 40 yds. , good patterns!  Have you tried 1 1/2 oz. #6 shot any?  My System 1 shotgun likes that so far for small game with full choke and 50 T7 FFg. I even killed a hen last Nov. with that load while squirrel hunting. 8)

I have since gotten a Encore Turkey choke, but have not had the time or weather to shoot it yet.
