And has been for quite some while now but no one seems to have seen one in a gunshop anywhere which is why I said I don't think they are shipping them yet.

I think the backlog of orders for that .45/70 is greater than they thought it would be, which is why they haven't released any so far.  Those rifles are in the loop somewhere and will be available eventually.

One thing to consider, those rifles come with a warning about excessive ammo pressure. The Remington website warns that ammo with pressure in excess of 28,000 CUP shoult NOT be used.

jvs, do they have any such warnings about the 30-06 version, warnings
about light mag ammo, etc.    If not I wonder if they are overly cautious
about the hot 45-70 reloads that we all hear about or if the gun is that weak. The light mag loads in 06 are at a higher pressure than 45-70
loads like Garrett, yes the case dimensions & rim are not the same, but
I am just curious. No, I will not advise anyone to cross the line, I am just curious if they will be consistant with the warnings for both rounds or if this is Lawyer induced due to hot 45-70 reload concerns.

Could they be concerned that some nut case would fire both barrels at the same time? I guess that could ceate a pressure spike in the receiver & maybe a sore shoulder!!

Mr. Graybeard, maybe Rem. is doing the old Ruger marketing technique
of promoting a gun long before it is available.

nomo,

I am only going by what i see on the Remington website.  I did not see the warning for the .30-06.

I suppose it could be possible that both calibers are made from the same barrel blank.  Although I dont know that for a fact.  A bigger bore in the same diameter barrel could be the reason.  In any case, reloading your own .45/70's for one of those double rifles will take some extra care - or so it seems.
