Dan Wesson Model 12 Question
« on: March 05, 2006, 08:36:00 AM »
Just found this board, I have a model 12 and 2 questions...

Is this pistol the 260th model 12?

How many Model 12's were made in total?

It gives me 1/5 light hits... probably needs a new spring. I find the serial number placement unusual.

Thanks for any help,
Jack

I think you'll find serial number on the frame underneath the cylinder crane rather than on the grip post.  On my later model 12 the serial number is on the right of the frame like all later models, but early 12's it was under the crane like S&W I think.

Good luck on finding dates for serial numbers.

you might check to see if your firing pin channel is crdded up, then make sure the innards are lubricated so nothing is keeping the hammer from falling properly. Or you could just have a weak mainspring or someone has clipped a coil too many.

No marks there...

There aren't any marks in the crane area, the "260" on the stem is the only area stamped with a number. Similar to the S&W's on the lower butt.

I just posted this model 12 in the "new" classified section. This is the only place pistol is offered for sale.
