« on: March 05, 2006, 01:16:18 PM »
I am still kicking around which Big Bore to get and my  buddies shop has a new 7.5" 460 BFR for $599.How do you think the BFR compares to the smith?

I have a 500 Mag in the BFR and think it is a great handgun. I have used it for deer and bear hunting. I like both the Smith & BFR, I don't have a BFR in 460, but think it would be fine expecally at that price. I do have two S&W PC model 460 Mags and an Encore in 460 Mag.  :D

Thanks for the reply. When I saw that price it was pretty tempting.I have had a PC Light Hunter in layaway for a few months but now I am having second thoughts. The BFR seems pretty well built and it is heavy enough to soak up some recoil. But that PC gun is nice too.I wish I could afford both. How does your BFR shoot?

My BFR shoots great. I have a Ultra-dot on it and it is very accurate. I can hit a bowling ball consistently at 50 to 70 yards off hand. I thought it would blow up the bowling ball, but it didn't, it just took out chunks and made the ball roll further away. At 50 yards I get 2 inch groups with 370 gr. cast bullets. It also likes the 575 gr. cast bullets I feed it. The BFR is built tough and in my opinion is a well built handgun.  :D
