Yee Haw the Oscars mostly shut out the movie ........
« on: March 05, 2006, 06:00:56 PM »
Yea that movie we cannot really talk about here did not do as good as all the liberals were hopeing for. The Oscars still had a few bumpy spots but glad to see that it was not any worse than what it was. It did not win best picture nor did any of the actors or actresses win anything. Maybe some hope after all some what even though the guy who played TC won and yea I would not spend my money to see that one either.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

I really don't understand anyone's obsession with the Oscars.  People from the film industry pick their favorites, dress up funny, and have a party.  Oscars don't drive my movie selection, social habits, clothing selection, sexual preference, or anything else.  And I think I am fairly main stream.

There are normally movies made each year that have topics that are troubling.  This year there were several.  And each of them got a few oscars.  But none of them will change the world.  And none of them deserve the amount of bandwidth they have gotten on the internet.

I'm so out of touch with Hollywood that I don't know what the heck you guys are talking about. But I will celebrate with you anyway.

The nice thing about the net is you can do a search and not have to watch them!  :D  Most of Hollywood are a bunch of   liberal freaks with the exception of a few like Tom Selleck and others of his ilk. I was hoping that Phoenix who did the Cash bio would have won for this reason not only did he do a hell of a job he learned how to play guitar and sing just for this movie. He even tried song writing to see what it was like to try to get into Cash's head as a song writer. Even though he is a tree hugger I respect him for the effort he put in this movie to nail Cash as well as he could. For that he should have gotten a oscar. He put more into it than some actor who learns a script and applys his trade. Phoenix went the extra mile for this one. Glad to hear at least the acctress who portrayed June got a award.

My favorite movies are all westerns. Back in the 60's, they started getting a bit strange with the Sergio Leone stuff. Then we had the western movie as protest with stuff like Little Big Man or other supposed "debunking the west" movies. Then it got popular to portray the west as dirty, grubby and grimey with people who had no hope and who died early and horribly.

I want to go back to when Randolph Scott, Gary Cooper, and John Wayne were doing westerns. Those were the westerns I enjoyed and still do every week on the Encore Westerns channel.

Oh, well. Maybe some day the old style western will come back.

To quote some of what Keith L posted: "I don't really understand anyone's obession with the Oscars. People from the film industry pick their favorites, dress up funny, and have a party". I thought this is what they do every night! THIS night just happens to be on T.V! I'm with you - who cares? Peace and God bless, Wolfsong.
