feathers hitting prongs
« on: March 06, 2006, 11:19:10 AM »
I have just switched from fingers to a release. I should have done this years ago. Now I am noticing the rubber parts my "prong type" rest are rapidily wearing out. I have a right helical and 4" feathers. My nock feather is down and it appears looking down the arrow I dhould have plenty of clearence.  Any advice??? TVC15

Perhaps not the answer you are looking for, but a fall-away rest like the Shakey Hunter is worth a look. Since I went to one, my shooting has improved.

Do urself a favor and switch to a whisker buiskit, none of the other rest designs compare to its stability and balance.

i dont dislike the wb.....my neighbor uses one and loves it.  i shoot way way better than him...with my drop away...lol

sorry...but i do not believe there is a discernable difference between drop aways and wb.  but i do feel there is a huge difference between the prong rests of old and the wb and drop aways.

There is a huge difference, your arrow CANT fall out of the rest before or during a shot with the WB,I dont think anyone could argue the fact that this is a plus when it comes to an arrow rest...

A plus, certainly. But for me, it is more of a theoretical plus. I've never come close to dropping an arrow from my rest. I grew up shooting a bare bow and shooting off my hand, so the full capture rests have no real attraction to me. Just don't like 'em.

To each his own. I don't think there is one answer for everyone.
