can any one suggest any good mild target loads for a 54cal lyman great plains flint

I would try 50 - 70g of FFFG.

I settled on 60grns Goex 3F in my .54
(50grns in the .45 & .50cals)

(Claims that 1:48" twists won't shoot PRBs accurately are old wives tales!!)

:D I generally use 50grns for a roundball just for target out to 50 yards.  you can up the charge depending on drop out to around 100 if so inclined.......stay safe...King

I suggest shooting whatever load works out to be the most accurate. Each barrel & load combo will vary some, even in the same brand & cal of rifle.  Most of the GPR's I have shot are shooting a target load of 60-70 grains. In mine I shoot 65 grains of FF Goex, .035 ball, .017 pillow ticking & BD6 patch grease.  I bump it to 75 grains for deer hunting & it is quite adequate.  :grin:
