Howler
« on: March 07, 2006, 03:26:12 PM »
Hi. I'm looking for a new howler. I was looking at the Primos Hot Dog and the Dan Thompson Red Desert Howler. Do you guys have any suggestions or comments about these two that will help me pick. I'm going to go pick one up this weekend at Gander Mountain, just thought I would try and get some feedbacks on these two calls. Thanks, Justin

Justin, I think all the howlers will work for you if you know how and when to use them, Primos, Dan thompson Cronk or one you make your self. Some cloased reed howlers will work and the open reed will sure work. The open reed will work better as you learn to use it because you can very the sounds with it. If you get good with the howler you can use it to call with as well as howel. There are no hard and fast rules that you must use. Picking your calling spot and the way you conceal your self is probably more important than any thing else you do. Use the shade of a tree or bush to break your Silhouette or hiding in a ditch, There is a thousand different things you need to do, Practice, Practice, Practice.
Hope this helps, Good luck :D ...............Joe...............
