I don't have any load data to offer, but I've been debating about ordering the very same barrel for about a month now.  I love 16" barrels but I just can't seem to get excited about the 6.8.  I don't care for rimless rounds in a Contender and I just don't see what the 6.8 will do that my 16" 30-30 or 7-30 won't do at least as well if not better.  I'm having trouble falling off the edge of the cliff here....somebody give me a push!  GAADS, could it be possible that I'm recovering from barrelitis...NAW...no way!
Boneguru, I've stepped all over your thread here for which I appologize.  Sorry,  Good luck with that barrel anyway.  Walt   :?  :?  :?

it seems you're asking for help as well, so my advice is simple, this was done to cure my 16" fix, since no longer avail other than S.O......
you should get one as well and we can wrok up loads in tandem, that way we dont have to buy the same powder til we find a load that sizzles,  :P

6.8 mm SPC load data

The Hogden annual update(magazine style publication) has the data you seek. however, it is limited but it gives pressure ranges and data for several bullets. I'll get to test my Encore in 6.8 mm this week. I'll let you know how it works out.

Good shooting!

As mentioned, Hodgdon seems to have the most loads listed so far, Accurate and Ramshot has loads also.  They were nice enough to forward the loads after I e-mailed them.  Most loads you find are going to be for bullets in the 90 to 110 grain range.  The only bullet I have loaded so far is the Sierra 90 gr, HP.  I have been shooting the Silver State ammo loaded with the 110 Pro Hunter bullet. Very accurate and the bullet mushrooms very nicely. Hornady has a hollow point-boat tail they are pushing as a game load and they also have a V-max varmit load that should work just fine on 'yotes and such.  Layne Simpson has published some loads he worked up in Rifle Shooter (I believe that's the rag) for the 130 grain BT.  There has been some discussion on the 6.8 over on the T/C Rifle forum..might be worth a look-see over there..

I just received a reply from Hornaday concerning using the V-Max .277 bullet in the 6.8 for whitetails.  He said it should work great at the speeds generated by the 6.8.With their reputation for accuracy..I might just have to purchase a box to give it a go.
