The 2006 Ala. State Smallbore Rifle Championships will be May 20 & 21 at Magic City Gun Club in Pinson, Ala. (near Birmingham) Contact Mark Allred at 205-655-5564 (H) or 205-337-5186 (cell) or MARKD35@aol.com for the program and registration form.

Our regular monthly matches are every second Sat. starting at 9:00 CST (except for May).

I've not been to Magic City in a month of Sundays. Used to shoot all the NRA Handgun Silhouette matches there. You guys still shooting the handgun matches too?

Yes we shoot NRA Hunter Pistol or Smallbore Hunter Pistol each month, Feb. through Oct. at MAGIC CITY GUN CLUB in Pinson, AL. Also Pistol Cartridge Cowboy Lever Action and Smallbore CLA Silhouette.

Hunter Pistol & PCCLA dates: April 22, Aug 26, Oct 28
HP Ala. State Champ's June 24

Smallbore HP & Smbore CLA : March 25, May 27, July 26 & Sept 23
Smbore HP Ala. State Champ's June 25

FYI Steel City Shooting Sports Assoc. in Hoover, AL has almost the same schedule schedule. They will host the Cowboy LA State Championships in June. You can Google for their web site.

Back when I was still active in competition I shot at both Steel City and Magic City most of the time with my shooting partner Billy Doss (now deceased). I think Ken Gray was the name of the guy at Magic City who ran the handgun matches back then. We shot small bore rifle and handguns with you guys.

Maybe one day I'll be able to make it back to see if any of the old crowd is still around. I love to knock over the steel but my days of being a competitor are over.
