Roller pin wear on CZ-52s?
« on: March 10, 2006, 07:21:27 AM »
I have a very nice green phosphate finished CZ-52 that seemed to be like new when I bought it.  It is not one of the black rebuilds.  I usually shoot it in the winter, around 30 rounds per session, it has approximately 225 rounds put through it so far by me.

The gun is kept well oiled and greased.  I noticed that the roller pins are wearing down into the frame platform, one more than the other.  I checked to see if the pins are held into the retainer ok, and they are.  No unusual wear on the pins is seen.  I have had the gun stripped down several times before and have not seen this weired wear pattern until now.

I know that roller pins are used in the MG-42, CETME and H/K 91.  Has anyone else notice this weird pattern?

Thanks

Go to www.makarov.com and you can read about this problems with certain rollers. They make a replacement.

If you have to replace them do so then just Lube them with MOLY just a little will do.  It can make a big difference in the extreme pressure wear areas.  All my guns are lubed with moly.

Moly elimimates all wear, reduces friction and prevents galling too.

I think I know what is wrong.

I found another web site that mentioned that these pistols are prone to having the pins drop down, the Czech armorers had to peen them up to prevent that on the rebuilds.

Needless to say I am dissapointed with this design. If anyone else sees the problem they at least will know what to do about it.

I'll have to take mine out and check it because its a well used pistol. I never shot it yet too.  I had it apart and it looked ok but maybe a closer inspection is needed too.  Thanks for the heads up.
