Since your tossing ideas around, maybe a few more might be good.
 a) 410 slugs seem to be limited in their usefulness, compared to a 20 or a 12ga.
b) 410 slug ammo is more expensive than larger slugs.
c) without checking, I think Mossberg does still make a 410. I like the safety under the thumb feature, I like the hammer under the thumb also.
d) Ya gets a lot of gun for the money with an NEF, Mossberg is a bit more.
The question is, what kind of nails are ya gonna pound with this hammer?

If you just gotta have a pump...the Mossy is the way to go.  But,  you could get all 3 variations that H&R sells for about the same money.
1  Tamer  410 Nickle receiver and barrel with synthetic pistol grip stock and fore arm
2  Pardner and Topper in adult length...26" barrel
3  Pardner and Topper in youth length...22" barrel

Sorry, guess that is 5 models.  Anyway, you get my idea.  I understand how you feel.   The "Just gotta have's" will cost ya money every time.LOL

I own a Mossberg model 500 .410 and I'm very impressed with it.  I had it out Last Saturday helping to clear the bran of pigons.  I was shooting Winchester 2 1/2 in 7 1/2 shot and took many birds in flight.  Also had my savage 93vf .17 HRM man when you hit a pigon with a Vmax it just knida goes poof.  But back to your question.   I have only shot slugs out of my Pardner and it was just for kicks.  Out to about 35 yrds it diid pretty good.

If I was to get a 410 just to shoot slugs in, then I would just assume to have a single shot Survivor. Then have the option of buying another barrel to shoot other sizes like 12 and 20. Simplicity :agree:

Consider a winchester 42.  A gun that was made with great quality control and will appreciate in value.  Something I'd be proud to own.

I've always been interested in the 9410 too...
