Occasionally, but then I'm still using Windows 98.

What issues are you encountering?

I sent a PM to Graybeard, perhaps he can shed a little light on the issue.

At least, maybe more. That's why we have the info there in the Help Section. Trouble is no one reads it when they need help.

I noticed your special treatment of Earthlink - as I had trouble with them for YEARS and spent many many hours on the tech-support phone lines - turned out they refused to put in normal virus catching software that most folks used - which blocked me (and all their users) from emailing anyone at Virginia Tech. (and others).  Tough trouble-shooting your provider's problems.  Needless to say I have little use for them now, having switched to another provider.  Don't get me started on AOL either.

That's my rant for the day, now back to work.

Thanks again.

Graybeard -

How about a link at the top of the page to the help stuff?  (There are a LOT of forums to look through and it may be some folks don't get down to the bottom of the list.)

EL Cazador 66, you too are an AOL user.

I can lead a horse to water but I cannot make him drink.

I can provide you people the information you need to know to not have these problems but it's obvious I cannot make you read it. If you don't then you will continue to have problems. Read and heed and the problems go away.

Graybeard -

I just read the FAQ - which I usually ignore FAQ pages because they are typically so poorly done with lots of words and very little help.

HOWEVER, I really like the job you've done on it!  Well organized and put together!

EL Cazador 66

I think the problem may be with your password.

I've been fighting this for 5 or so days now.  6 hours today alone.

I can get on the forum after installing an anti-spyware program (spybot) which works well.

BUT I couldn't log on - from three different computers, two different ISP's.

I would get a php error the instant I tried logging on -

          phpBB : Critical Error

Could not get theme data for themes_id [2]

SO the solution was to ask Graybeard and Matt.  The only reply so far was that the trouble was on my end, but that Matt would get my email and look into it.

MY solution was to re-register.  Works fine.

You may notice that Cat Whisperer is now Cat_Whisperer.  One works, one doesn't.  The passwords went from 5 characters to 8 characters.  The email addresses are different.

Very strange Tim, very strange indeed. I suspect it's more than a password issue. There is no minimum and no practical maximum on password length.

Big problem is the new account isn't set up to Moderate the forum. That I can of course take care of if we need to. I spoke with Matt about your situation tonight and he has promised to look and see if he can figure what's going on. The new info here might help him.

Beats me what's going on. How about e-mailing me your password on the old account and let me see if I can log on from my computers as you. If I can and if I can post as you then it's not an account problem. If I can't then it is. That too will help Matt to narrow it down if it's an account problem.

I totally agree with you, very strange indeed.

I sent both names and passwords to you last night, will repeat in a minute or so.  It's most likely burried in the hundereds you get daily.

We might want to just clean out the profile as a minimum starter with a new password.  I got to this point by trying things that should work, when I ran through those I tired things that might work, and when I tried all those I tried everything I could think that could be changed.  About all that's left that I can change is in the profie (if I could get into it to change it); past that ... who knows?

Thanks for keeping up with this, thie time is worth it if it can help fix something for others.

Tim Stole my cookie!!!

Here  is the  error message:

 phpBB : Critical Error
Could not get theme data for themes_id [2]

It's a simple fix.  For some reason or another the cookie got corrupted.

If you encounter this error delete the cookie for Graybeards.  Then log back in and get a new cookie.

No big deal as long as you know.

DD this is not the case... For some reason I have found that 335 GBO user accounts have become corupted. the

phpBB : Critical Error
Could not get theme data for themes_id [2]

error comes from the system trying to load a theme with the id of 2, we do not have a theme_id[2] as we only use one theme on GBO. If you have this problem make a post in the Q&A forum as a guest and put your Username in the post and I will fix them as they are reported... I will try to get all of them in the next day or so, just have to write the "sql" to do it...
