Extractor spring fatigue
« on: March 17, 2006, 05:19:42 AM »
Curious to know if it'll hurt (i.e., cause accelerated "fatigue" in) the extractor spring on a lever gun, if I leave the chamber loaded for really long periods of time between actual firings of the weapon...? I'm an LEO and I keep the chamber loaded on my Marlin 336 with a full magazine. (I take more-than-adequate safety measures, by the way.) Doing so seemingly has no effect on the magazine spring, but the extractor spring isn't nearly so robust-looking. Just wondering...figured some of you might have some experiences with this.
