Just bought a Tikka T-3 hunter in .243 .what is the deal with the Winchester supreme ballistic silvertip 95 grain ,is it a problem ? I hear a lot of people bad mouth it . I plan on useing it for deer and antilope .any one know what is the best ammo for this purpose in the Tikka ? don't reload any more so it should be loaded over the counter box ammo .

They have shot very good in my 243..don't know how well they do on deer..but I do know there are a bunch of guys that swear by them..

The .243 pushing 3100fps is a great quick round for WhiteTail Deer or Antelope. A 95grain bullet might be a tad on the light side, but that's just the Ruark in me, LOL. I wish there was a 110 or 120 grain factory load for it.

Make good hits and your rifle will do the rest. Very destructive bullet so avoid the shoulder on the side your shooting at. I believe that bullet is a ballistic tip with a lubaloy coating. Many have recommended this bullet to me for deer and it shoots well in my rifle.

Last deer season, used a 243 Winchster Ballistic silvertip 95 grain on a doe. Hit her just behind the shoulder. Bullet passed thru the deer (part of the lung was hanging out the exit wound). This deer was shot at about 25 yards, and she ran off about 100yards before dropping. I had a very good blood trail to follow, so I can not complain. FYI, I switched to a 308 after that day.

My nephew uses it in 7mm08 Rem. and has hadn't had any problems
( 140gr. ) its very accurate in his rifle.

Just wanted to add. The same I day I took the doe (hunting woods in the morning) I also took a spike (huntinig fields that afternoon) with the 243 using the Horandy 100 grain Light Mag round. This deer was shot at about 75 yards, also hit in the shoulder, but it dropped in it's tracks. About 35 minutes later I shot another Doe at about 125 yards with the Horandy bullet, but this one ran off into the woods and was unable to be recovered due to darkness.
