http://www.gunstocksinc.com/They are pretty much shaped completely. Minor fitting is needed at the receiver for the buttstock and you need to have the butt cut for your desired length of pull.
The forearm requires minor fitting for the hinge. It also needs some channel work to clear the barrel.
If you get a set, have them cut the length of pull and fit a recoil pad. That way the most you'll need for tools is a sanding block and maybe a dremel rotary tool(not necessary, comes in handy though).
Sanding, oiling and finishing is completely on you..
For walnut, expect to spend 5 solid hours sanding each the forearm and butt. Then another 2hrs dewhiskering the wood. If you go with tung oil, expect to apply at least 10 coats or more depending on how you want it to look. Each coat takes 10-20min to buff off the prior coat with steelwool, about 5-15 min to apply new coat, and about 4-8 hrs to cure until you can apply the next coat.
You must figure in "oh craps" too.. like finding something had landed on the finish while it was wet/tacky and imbedded itself. ...cat/dog hair, dust bunnies, spiders.
Once you apply last coat and let it cure, figure in about 20-30 min polishing out the finish with a buffing rag.
