Whats your favorite bullet. I am tired of these hard to load T/C bullets. What's everybody else use?

I have tried the power belts. I had a .45 cal that I just sent back to t/c because it wouldn't shoot a group with any kind of bullet, espiesally the t/c's I couldn't hardly get them down the barrel either I thought that I would break the ram rod trying to push them down the barrel. The power  belts are real easy to load, if you find the right one that will shoot a good group. Hope this helps, good luck.

did a design of experiments using 2 guns, 3 types of bullets and loose pyrodex and pellets. If using pellets 5 shot groups between 7 to 12 inches, loose powder 1 to 3.5 inches at 100 yards. Powerbelts were easiest to load by far. :wink:

I make my own using a Lee 44 cal mold. I've just started experimenting with it. I use sabots and 310 grain bullet. I know it doesn't like 3 Pyrodex pellets. So I'm going to use the powder  and start at 90 grns of Pyrodex and work up 10 grains at a time.

I agree with ckknight98 100% except that I use 300 gr. xtp's.  They shoot great groups in my gun with 2 pellets.  I tried the the 45 cals, and just like you I am not going to mess with shooting a gun that loads that hard if something else will work.

I HAVE USED NUMEROUS BULLETS AND LOADS YOU HAVE TO SEE WHAT YOUR RIFLE LIKES.MINE GROUPS BETTER WITH POWDER THAN PELLETS AND DEFINETLY SHOOTS .451 OR .452 BULLETS BETTER THAN .429 DUE TO A TIGHTER FIT. THIS PERTAINS TO ALL MY MUZZLELOADERS NOT JUST THE 209X50 ENCORE.

I get true 1.5 inch groups with 120 gr 777 and 300 xtp mag with black mmp sabots. I do run a damp patch between shots usually but it will shoot a couple loads in a row to same spot if I want without cleaning.

Been using hybrid conical from http://www.sabottechnologies.com. 150 gr. pellets = 2" groups at 100 yards. The conical weighs in about 310 gr. so it is a stout load but boy does it bring the hammer. The conical is part sabot and front half is lead so it loads slicker than wet goose sh**. Shoots great at 100 gr. as well. The sabot stays with lead to target which provides increased stability and down range BC. Real interesting bullet. Also load slugs from same site and they shoot great as well.

I too have found loose powder better than pellets. I am running a velocity and accuracy tests with pellets, loose, and 777. when i am finished i will post the results. as for bullets i started with the 250 ptx and 3 pellets. it was accurate but a pain to load. Last year i went to the 295 powerbelt and 150 loose pyrodex. accuracy is good and loading is easy. The only problem is the bullets seem to be soft. I have yet to have one exit even at 150 yds. at 100 they come apart like a ballistic tip. but they do hammer a deer. ha sanyone compared 777 to loose pyrodex do you need the same charge to get equal velocity?
