Had fun at Benton; thanks to all!

Just wanted to thank Alston, George, Frank, and everyone who helped us at the Benton shoot this weekend.  Wish we had the sense to dress warmer, but we had fun.  I was very impressed with the shooting ability of those guys.  I think we did about as well as we expected to do.  I hit 22 out of 60 in the first match, which wasn't embarrassing, given the obvious difficulty in hitting the dang things!  I did hit seven turkeys, which made me real happy!  I think my buddy Josh would still rather shoot bows, but he had some scope problems in the second match.  I think if the weather had been warmer, he would have enjoyed it more.  Chicken: that is one fine rifle you have!  I really look forward to shooting more in the future; it really reminded me of the 3-D archery shoots we used to go to, where everyone knows everyone else and helps anyone new to the game, and where lots of friendly competition goes on between old friends.  Once again, thanks, and I'll be practicing hard for the next one!

The people make the event, that’s un-debatable!

Thanks for coming up and visiting our club, it was a pleasure to meet you. The conditions were what I would call tough at times on Saturday, hopefully the merit of the shooters will stand with out getting one of the old “well if you think that is bad” discussions going..LOL. I just know when it takes about 45 seconds to “get on” a chicken, and then right as your dot is slowing on the center, the wind lets up and you “fall through” to the other side as you are shooting, it can be frustrating.

The first match seemed to have a lot to do with “when” you were shooting as the conditions were changing. My hats off to Matt Johnson (SP?) from Mississippi for winning match one with a 50/60. Jeff Thiele of MO won hunting rifle with a 47/60 (correct?).

There were some really good shoot-offs that went 8-9 shots deep for some of the metals.

The team shoot Friday night was a hoot, I’m sure we will see more of the Tres Banditos format! The timed head to head style of competition really gets the juices flowing!
