Rabbit Question
« on: March 19, 2006, 01:33:14 PM »
Hey everyone. I've been coyote hunting lately and have came across a couple of rabbits the last 2 nights. The first one I got I had my neighbor skin it for me and show me how. The one I took last night, I tried to skin it where I killed it and just screwed it up. I'm looking to keep the fur as well as the meat. I dont want to go back out and have to ruin another animal. Thats the worst feeling. Anyone know of any site I can see some good pics or a video of this to help me out. Any advice is appreciated also. Justin

I've found it easier instead of skinning it open to make a cut like you were skinning it cased, then just pull the skin off with no knife, being careful not to rip it. You can pull the whole skin off with no knife. Then after you get the skin off slit it down the belly.

Remember you probably won't do it right the first time, the only way to get good at it is to do it alot. You can't just read a book and then do it perfectly!

Hope this helps!

PS. It will be alot easier to just bring 'em back home before skinnin' 'em the first few until you get the hang of it.
