i start my new job on the 10th of april and i will  be making more money, which means my gatling gun may become a reality in a few months...i may have to take you up on that offer.

Cabela's sells a cool kit where you attach 2 10/22 barrels and voila you have a 22 gatlin gun.  Much more economical to shoot and just as much fun.

I use a 45/70 Gov.  Loaded to 2000 fps, 405 grain Idaho Territory lead bullets.  When I was a kid, a hunting buddy of my dad's shot a snowshoe hair with both barrels of a 10 ga. side-by-side with 00 buck.  That was interesting. ;)

The most fun I had hunting jacks was with my Mini-14 with 55gr hollowpoints. The most
destructive round I have seen was a 240 gr JHP .44 Mag out of a Ruger Carbine autoloader.
Hit a jack with that .44 and it looked like a half a stick of dynamite went off in inside of it!
A lot of the jacks that I have shot were infested with worms and tics. No way would I ever
eat them! Let the coyotes and crows take care of them.

BLK Hawk73

I don't see where you have any gripe with people shooting the sorry Jack Rabbits with any thing, First off the sorry Jack is a Pest that eats up the grass at the rate of 8 Jack rabbits= One cow. Second they were brought here by some kook thinking  the Jack Rabbit would be great as a sporting animal which was a total Flop. Third the Jack Rabbit is nothing but a total NUISANCE and as far as  i am concerned they can be shot with any thing. The only thing they are good for is Coyote fodder and target practice. In my humble opinion you owe the people on GBO an apology for the comments you made. Have a good day......Joe.......

I'm a new member and I was just reading this thread and I just had to say that your idea of shooting jack rabbits with a .300 mag is just AWESOME! :) Unfortunately I have never had the chance to do this but it is a must do now. So which do you guys think would be more fun? The 'ol .300 Weatherby or my Puma 92 in .454 Cassull? I think they would be pretty high on the splat factor.

As for as what makes the loudest POP it's really hard to say. I have shot them with a 257wby and get some fine music out of them. I now have a 223wssm but have not had a chance to try it out yet, With the velocity it gets they ought to make one heck of loud pop. I have  shot them with a 220 Swift and the sound rings their bell.
In { this case } velocity is the answer to the loud pop, What ever you use it is fun, From the little Rem 17 to the big 458 lott, Shoot a jack, Save the grass for some thing that is good to eat. Have a good day.......Joe.......

Why exactly does another man who chooses to use a HP rifle to rid the land of pests in a humane fashion embarrass you?
Would you be happy if he used a smaller caliber and increased his chances of wounding the animal? Or would you prefer that he ate the disease ridden, scrawny, tough, worthless, overpopulated, grassland destroying invasive species that he's shooting?

I really don't think that long range varmint shooting is what I consider hunting either, more like simple pest control... but that's just that - "what I consider" - it's an opinion. That said, I really doubt that jacks are all that they shoot or hunt. Do you think the same people would blast deer or other noble game to pieces w/ a .50 bmg or 20mm, just to leave it lay? I don't.

blkhwk73 made the remark in March of 06, and everybody's still upset? Wow. A guy at the coffee shop the other day made the statement that he had no use for guns. In fact he said he didn't care if the goverment outlawed them, because he didn't care anything about them. My response was to laugh and say; Good, that will mean less competition for the good deals, and will save more of'em for me. If your not doing anything illegal and your enjoying yourself, who cares what some critic thinks?

Ahhhh, someone is showing real firearm owner responsibility and maturity aren't they.  Certainly giving the firearnms owner and hunters alike a wonderful image for others.  As was said in another of your threads...time to grow up!   You're NOT impressing anyone.  :noway:

Alright someone disagreed and stated their feelings.  I see no farther need for others to repeat the same thing.  This will only lead to fighting.  Any farther posts similisr to  this will be deleated.

NO, but I used to go around Mud Lake with a 7mm Mag loaded with 120 gr HPs.  Boy was that a blast in more than one way!
