These two pair of grips was made my Scott Kolar of SKCustom grips. The Mod 83 stocks are made of mineral stained giraffe bone and the Mod 97 grips are made of bighorn sheep.

ScottO,
Those grips really accentuate an already beautiful pair of octagon barreled FA's.
I like that your 475 grips appear to have less side to side flair at the bottom than do the factory wood grips on my 454. How much does that improve on the feel?
Also, please tell me all about the front sight on the model 83. Where did you get it? Or did you make it?
I would like to adopt both features to my own FA.

I prefer the feel of the less flared grips. They allow a more positive grip for me. The grips came in last week and I havent been to the range with them but I believe they will help keep the grip from slipping as much as occurs with the factory wedged shaped grips.

The front sight is FAs silhouette partridge sight. If you look closely you can see a gap between the bottom of the front sight and the front sight base. This gap is where the sight hood goes. While it doesnt look aesthetically correct I prefer this sight for its sight picture. The bad thing is its not very gentle with holsters and would be a bugger if it were to burry up in your forehead during momentary laps of concentration.

Great looking grips Scott. I especially like the Giraffe bone. Here are a few photos of my Indian Stagg grips made for me by Raj at Eagle Grips. I too had them slimmed to better fit my hand. My 83 is a 475 as well.

Those stags look real nice. They look as though Raj made a perfect fit to your grip frame. Lately Ive had a thing for natural material grips and hope, over time, to add a wider variety. Other materials Id like to have stocks made from are; Sambar Stag, Bark Elephant Ivory, Walrus Tusk, Mastodon Ivory, Buffalo Horn and Mammoth Tooth. Once again, those stags are beautiful. Congrats.

Can someone give a link or contact info for the two makers?
The ONLY thing I don't like about my model 97/357 is the grips.
Very slippery when my hands are moist or even in winter with very dry.

TScottO, those are some beautiful grips and guns. Octagon barrels too. What caliber are your guns? I really like that mineral stained giraffe bone. How durable is it? I also like how he didn't flare the bottom of the grips. Very nice.

The gun on top is a mod 83 in 475 Linebaugh and the one on bottom is a mod 97 in 44 Special. Giraffe bone is very dense and based on what Ive been told is one of the more durable materials for stocks. Thanks for the kind words. The mineral stain on these grips really is unique. I have some giraffe bone on a bisley. When comparing the two, they look to be totally different materials.
