Replacement sights for 45acp?
« on: March 21, 2006, 10:09:29 AM »
I have recently purchased a Kimber SS Ultra Carry II 45acp. I love the way this little gun shoots and I'm very impressed with it's accuracy. However the standard black sights are hard to use in low lite situations. I find it difficult to quickly acquire my sight picture and fire multiple shots. Does anyone have a suggestion for replacement sights for 1911 style pistols that will be used for self defense?

Thanks
Trey

I am quite happy with the factory sights on the Ultra Carry. I either replace them with the factory night sights or leave the stock rear sight black and paint the front bright orange. The orange works well for fast sight alignment in most light.

There are too many sights available to discusss all.
Take a look at brownells offers, look at Heienies and dawson has some good ones.

I'm VERRY happy with the Trijicon's I put on my Combat Commander.  I'm told that Meprolite's are as good and some say better.

Thanks for all your replies. I will look into some of the sights. I might be jumping the gun a little on the sights. I just bought the gun last Saturday. I think I need to shoot it a little more before I dump money into it. Also, I hate to sacrifice accuracy for easy sight allignment. This little thing is so accurate!!!

Thanks again,
Trey

You aren't going to lose any accuracy by replacing factory sights with trijicons but after the sun goes down, you will gain a lot.

Novak Night sights are nice for your gun, you should shoot it first and get a feel for the gun.
