My .02 worth, or maybe less. What's available to you in distance would be a greater factor than conditions. If 500 meters is available test it out there, may be surprised. I'm limited to 300 so match time and before is when 400 to 500 gets checked. I spent many years pounding the 100 yard line, was asked by an "experienced" shooter why I tested at 100 when my first target was at 200? good question! set a couple of simple flags and see what the loads are doing in what you will assuredly compete in one day. Don't get the tiny groups? This isn't a tiny group game-this is stand and deliver in whatever nature conjures up. 200 line 1/2min or less,300line same has worked when it's working. weather will make above criteria difficult, does the same match day, but I know what to expect. If above can't be attained, I keep trying with loads to get "close enough", option "B" spend more $$. Nahh lets go shoot! I think ideally a rifle should group shots all yardages under the dot! rifles are expensive, I got a bigger dot! Have a great season!!
