Thumbhole stock?
« on: March 22, 2006, 07:49:23 AM »
Does anyone make a thumbhole stock for a TC G2 frame?

The thumbhole stock is the only style stock I like the looks of on a TC handgun/rifle.

Failing in that, does anyone know where I can buy an encore frame without the grip and forearm?

I am prepared to use the Encore frame for what I want, but since it will never be used as a handgun, why pay for the grip and forearm??

You might try Fox Ridge Outfitters at www.foxridgeoutfitters.com for a thumbhole stock.  You can get frames without barrels from various sources including SSK Industries, Fox Ridge Outfitters, www.gunbroker.com and others.

I like the thumbhole stocks in the rifle versions myself.  I got nice walnut ones for my Encore and Contender and a composite camo one from Fox Ridge Outfitters.

EABCO also sells some beautiful laminated thumbhole stocks. You can also try Boyds gunstocks if you don't mind doing the final finishing yourself. You can get anything from mild to wild at Boyds with the wood upgrades they offer.

I also tried GunStocks Inc. for an ambi stock for my Encore.  If you don't mind doing the finish yourself it's a great way to go.  They are also one of GBO's sponsors.

Midway sells thumbhole stocks as well. If you have an older Contender Frame (not G-2) they sell some really sweet Bell & Carlson Carbelite stock/forend sets in all sorts of camoflage patterns.
