Anyone shoot a Rem 7615?
« on: March 22, 2006, 03:45:54 PM »
Hi, I just read an article in Guns/Ammo about the Rem 7615 from Rem's LE catalog.  That looks like an awesome weapon and wondered if anyone here has actually shot one.  I like the 7600s and this is a close copy except it is in 223, has a 16" barrel, rear ghost ring sights and you can even get a six-position stock but the best part is it takes AR 15 mags.

I think it would make a good home defense and good plinker gun but I am curious if it would have the accuracy to be predator calling gun.  It obviously wouldn't be a 400 yd prairie dog gun but it might make a good 200 yd coyote gun or 150 yd ground hog gun if the accuracy is there.

Anyone has any experience with these?

I'll start of by saying that I have not yet fired the new 7615. However in my vast experience with "big green's" pump rifles, I believe I can answer some of your questions.

Being that this model has a fully free-floating barrel, as do all 760/7600s, it should be plenty accurate for the type of work you describe. I have a 7600 carbine in .35 Rem & it is one of the most accurate big game rifles I own...PERIOD. The carbines that I have seen use a heavier profile barrel than the 22" rifle versions, which adds stiffness and therefor increases accuracy. The barrel on the 7615 carbine (16") is even shorter than that on the sporting carbines (18 1/2"), which should further enhance stiffness & accuracy.

Hope this helps.
