I own two saiga's in 308win and in .223rem. and they are very accurate and cycle flawlessly too. These are one of the highest quality AK47 designed rifles to come from Russia they are more accurate than there AK brothers are too. With its chrome lined chambers and bore and with its $300 price tag its hard to beat no other .223 rifle comes even close. Its one rifle that has the AK47 design thats in a sporter wrapper you can use it for dual roles like hunting and plinkin without the worry of wearing it out too.  Its got the Russian Izhmash AK47 quality, dependability and reliability thats battle proven since it was first interduced.

We have been hammering mine for a few years now too.  Every trip to the range the 4 of us take turns hammering them. I'm testing them trying to make them fail and they won't because the more i push them the better they shoot.

I was never fond of the .223rem round nor the high priced other black rifles it never had my interest until i seen the very affordable Saiga. The Saiga in .223rem and the Wolf .223 FMJ ammo make a great combination. Don't be fooled by its affordable price tag either the saiga will do anything the higher priced black rifles can do too its just the saiga costs less.
The Russian Izhmash Saiga is the hottest thing to hit our shores since the very first chinese norinco sks did in the late 80's. I predict the russian saiga will be more popular in a shorter time than the sks too.

I'll bet once you shoot the saiga in .223rem you will go back and get the saiga in 308win. too. Both calibers with 16" barrels make a nice pair to have. 8)

You may have to benchrest your saiga at 100yds to sight it in too its just a matter of adjusting the front sight.  My .223rem saiga did shoot a little low at first but raising the front site up solved that. Its the ammo your shooting too. Lets face it these are BRAND NEW RUSSIAN AK47's in a sporter wrapper not someones reworks.

The only thing i did was to lube the saiga up with moly on the bolt carrier/bolt, the receiver rails,  trigger sear and a little on the gas piston/gas tube.  The saiga will cycle faster and smoother and the trigger will feel awesome too. :-D

The Russians did notice that the two american calibers of .223rem & 308win are a tad more accurate than the two russian calibers of 7,62x39 and 5,54x39 are too.  They think its the straighter design of the american case(brass) thats why they are more accurate.

I have shot my 16" barreled 308 saiga using surplus south african 308ball FMJ ammo and i'm shooting 1 1/2" groups at 100yds benchrested.  There are others reporting there shooting 200yds, 400yds and even 500yds accurately too with their 16" barrels too.  I have noticed the .223 is just as accurate too while plinking i haven't benchrested it yet but the saiga's are very impressive.  This gun is going to take our gun market by storm too my local dealer is selling them fast too. Not only is it the affordable price tag or the russian quality its the ease of complete take down to clean it too.  I don't have anything negative to say other than you may go thru a lot of ammo shootiong it, for its a hoot to shoot!!!!   Enjoy and let us know what you think of it after you get one too!!!! :D

For more info you can go to www.saiga-12.com  then go to the forum.

I'm not sure about the distance accuracy with the saiga in .223rem yet but so far it looks good at 100yds. but i'm not sure how she does at 200yds or 300yds. All of the saiga's do have the side mounted scope rail too. Which makes mounting a scope easy to do.  Your local dealer should have these in his racks already they been back for a while now.

BTW;  I have also heard from the guys who own both saiga's with the 16" and 22" barreled 308's that both have the same accuracy at 100yds. The guys using the 16" barreled 308's are the ones making the longer shots at 200yds, 400yds and 500yds. some with iron sites too.

I have also read about the guys who own both the saiga and the semi-auto remington's that the saiga is more accurate than the remington is too.  Overall the Russians have sure hit a nitch in our gun market for this affordable, accurate, quality gun.  As the popularity grows these may get harder to find which my dealer is constantly selling out of saiga's right now too.  Its the hottest buy for a semi-auto rifle right now.
