Any experience with 375 H&H mag encore rifle -- its recoil?

I am thinking hard about shooting this gun.

I have not weighed my encore. Anyone know the frame weight and the barrel weight.

How much more recoil than the 45-70 in 14 inch contender barrel?

Thanks,
Earl

There is more noticeable recoil from the 357 H& H than the 45-70.  You can tame the recoil by installing a Simms recoil pad and a mercury recoil suppressor.  I did it with my Encore in 416 Rigby.   :D

I have an Encore 375 H&H Magnum rifle.  When I shoot it off the bench, I use a Lead Sled (it hurts a bit without it); offhand it's not too bad.  I have a Leupold 3-9X scope on mine and have to place my head carefully or it dings me in the forehead (make sure that whatever scope you put on has good eye relief).  If the barrel were ported, I probably wouldn't get dinged by the scope.

I plan to use a leupold 3x9 scope also.

:D

My Remington 700 375H&H recoils like a pussycat compared to a 45-70 Encore using 350- 400gr Ruger #1 class loads. During last trip to the range, the forend screw ripped out of the 45-70 Encore barrel and so it's packaged up for a trip back to New Hampshire.

Hawkeye go out and buy yourself that barrel. I have a 375H&H barrel for my encore stainless receiver black synthetic stock and blued barrel. The recoil doesn't really seem much worse than my 300 win mag barrel. The load I am shooting is the 270gr. remington soft point. Hold the gun tight to your shoulder give yourself enough eye relief and have fun. It is my favorite caliber to shoot.
