Did a search and came up with one recommendation and one un-answered thread regarding this scope.

Does anyone know anything about them? Good or Bad.

Was this an entry level model?

It's labled as made in Japan. From what I gather, that's usually a good thing for Simmons scopes.

Dude, as near as I could tell when I bought my Black Shadow, the Deerfield was the gimme scope on the Winchester combos, maybe the Savage combo too at some point. It is just a cheap scope. I would ditch it. Mine said, "made in China" but it was actually pretty clear. I didn't figure to waste any ammo sighting in and just ditched it. Probably could have put it on a .22, but I gave it away.

FWIW, the current closeout version of the 3-9x deerfield sells for less the $35, the 4-12x40 sells for $50.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll put the Deerfield on a .22 and hope for the best.

I can't see the logic in playing with a $35 scope on an '06.

I have had an older "Deerfield" on a .22 rifle.

I bought this scope about ten years ago on a clearance sale at a WalMart in Florida. Its given me very good service.

Evoc one, sorry to be so late in replying.

We used to spend two weeks at Christmas with my folks when they had their place in Sarasota.

Your right, it sure would have been a long drive if only for the scope.

I've shot the rifle (Win. Black Shadow 30-06) with the scope on it and it did well. Got it zeroed without much trouble.

What did you think of the new rifle? I finally shot mine this weekend (its a 270). The 270 was more recoil than I am used to from my 7-08. Couldn't decide if it was just a light stock or not. The factory ammo beat me silly. Had loaded some 110gr VMAX with H4831 (they were free). The first loads shot 1.5", 3", and 1.5" so I was pretty pleased overall. The action was great. It is a lot smoother than my Remington. It was definately worth the price that I paid. Of course I am already hoping for a Boyds stock for my birthday to replace the plastic.

Oh, Yea! She let me know I was shooting her. I was shooting Rem 180's. As it sits, it won't be a recreational bench shooter.

I hear what your saying about a Boyds stock. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with mine. I generally like to keep things the way they are, unless I pick-up something specifically to be a project. Which means, its is good mechanical condition, but in need of re-furbishing.

I do plan to try it with 150's and 165's. Maybe, that'll help. Otherwise, It may become a back-up to my Mossburg ATR or Handi-rifles.
