I'm so happy,I get to pick up my Browning low wall 243 tomorrow.I've been trying to find one that was in excellent condition but at a reasonable price and the gods have finaly smiled on me.
Tradeing a brand new un fired remington bdl left hand rifle in 243 for the low wall.
Cant wait to get it all set up will put a small little 2x7 leupold compact on it,and use it for deer and just plain fun.
Anybody out there with one to help me along with any loads or problems they have had with theres.
Gun is supposed to be mint, with base and rings.
I'm a happy shooter,cant wait.
single shot are it.

Hi Northern

My Low Wall 243 is still in Canada waiting on the paper work to get done, so you are one lucky guy.  There is very little said about them so I hope someone chips in.  I know our host had one but he doesn't seem to say much about it.

If you're looking on here Mr GB, how about posting a copy of the review you did or some other stuff for us to think about.

Cheers - Foster

I had one but decided to let it go. Super shooter. Most loads shot from 0.4" to 0.8" for three shots at 100 yards. I think about the only thing that really shot poorly in it were Barnes bullets.

For the varmint weight bullets I used IMR3031 and got really high velocity and super accuracy. I'm convinced there is no better powder for it with the lighter bullets. Mine shot Nosler 90BTs superbly. It really didn't much care for the Hornady 100 grain loads regular or high octane but man did it love their lightest varmint load. That one would go under 1/4" at 100 yards.

If you'll write to me separate I'll dig out some of my old loads if you like. No way of being sure the precise same load will be good much less best in yours but I'd think the powder and bullets might with a bit of load work.

The .243 is a great caliber, and it should be a fine shooting rifle too! Hope to hear how it shoots soon!

I brought it home today, gun is absolutely mint no marks and it has great figure in the butt stock.THE GENTELMAN THAT HAD OWNED IT GAVE ME HIS LOAD DATA AND 5 TARGETS THAT HE HAD SHOT,,WOW.Worst group that he had ever shot with it was 1 1/8 inch,  but useing Barnes triple shock 85 grain loads he showed me targets at .548,with H414 powder and87 vmax with same powder shot .411 inch.
Boy I cant wait to shoot this, mounted a 2x7 leupold compact on it looks great.
GB,I would love some other loads,if you find them.please email me at fschro5577@rogers.com

If you want my loads you need to either e-mail or PM me asking. Then I'll leave it until I find and send them. But from a post in the forums it just ain't gonna happen cuz once I leave this post I won't think about it again.

I mounted a 2x7 compact leupold on my 243 low wall but had to use leupold single extension rings to get the scope far enough back.Have loaded up 40 rounds with 3 different bullets to try tomorow. It should be fun.I have waited a long time to find one and now its mine, look out groundhogs and deer.

Hi Guys

Cripes I was almost worried there, but a quick call to the guys handling my export permit confirmed that they are still holding my rifle, have the permit application lodged, and expect to ship it to me in a couple of weeks.

Now as long as one of you don't figure to "queer my case" with the good ol' Canadian govt bureaucacy I should be in clover soon.

If it doesn't work out I'll take a priority list of all you envious guys right now !!

Cheers - Foster

PS was just reading a thread over on 24Hr campfire, a guy there reckons his 243 Low Wall shoots crap hot without even going looking for loads (see the "single shot bug" thread)
