Do the old and the new G2 contender pistol use the same scope mounts?
Factory drilled would be the same during both pistol manufactures?

I shot my old contender with a 45-70 14 inch barrel, 400 grain 1300 fps.

In about 30 shots it tore the rear aluminum scope ring off. The scope rings came on when I bought it.

I see this mount " TCA 9815 G2 CNTNDR PSTL DUO-RING/BS BL " for sale at online stores. Will this fit contender barrels in general? I would guess so.

Is this mount strong enough for the 45-70? It says it is very strong.

Or should I get the maxima mount and steel rings?

I probably would have been content with iron sights had it come that way.

By the way, this pistol is quite a thrill to shoot. Flames, noise, blast and recoil.

Thanks for your time.

Earl

Yes, same barrels, same mounts. I like the redfield 3 ring mount or the weaver with 3 vertical split rings. Just be sure the screws are not bottoming in the holes before the mount is down good and tight. Also if you opt for the redfield, be sure and lap the rings.

One other thing to remember is the encore mounts are not interchangable with the contender mounts. The hole pattern is the same, but the barrel radius is not.
