SIG 220,,
« on: March 25, 2006, 06:12:08 PM »
Well after all the prase I have read on these I will have to pick one up. By chance ,, A co worker has a shooting friend that has a 220 for sale. 400 bucks. I just have to go look at it. Hopefully it will be there next weekend as that is the earlist I can get there. 400 sound pretty good. I just wish they were not so damn ugly. Swiss women are not ugly so why the pistols.. But function and accuracy, is of course the most important things. I guess that is why guys with ugly wives are the most happy.

:D You will change your mind and think they are beautiful if you ever have to use it to protect your bacon.

As for those beautiful Swiss women, I agree there are some real knock outs there, but I also ran across a bunch of dogs during my visit...

If any country in the world's women were as reliable and dependable as the Sig, they would be the supreme rulers of all things terestrial, celestial and aquatic.  :-D
I believe that to be a fair price for an excellent pistol.  And as I remove mine from the holster on my hip to try and see what it is your talking about when you say it is ugly, I realize that it is true, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and reliability is just a plain, hard, cold fact.

If, by any chance, the seller is getting rid of it because he thinks it isn't very accurate (not that he'll necessarily tell you that) AND he obviously hasn't put many shots through it ... don't despair.  Regular 220 shooters say they need about 500 shots through them to come into their own.  They're all over the place for the first couple hundred; then, as you approach 500, they just start coming together. $400 is a good price unless it's a real "beater".  Be careful, too, if it has night sites and they're getting old; they're expensive to replace.

Hummmm, I like reliable over beauty anyday and I think reliable is prettier than cosmetic beauty.
I really like the P220 and I believe yours will prove to be a friend indeed, hopefully not need to be a friend when you are in need--but it will be.
Blessings

Had several SIG handguns over the years.  I have a pair of 220's...one nickle and one blue...that I can't bear to part with.

I for one appreciate the engineering of the Sig Sauer pistols and we own 4 of them at the present time. The tough 10 pound trigger pull on most SIG autos can be rectified by the way of a "WOLFF" spring kit for less than $20 Bucks.

I can personally say that my wife's first SAS P-239 Sig Sauer took over 400 rounds before it started to become accurate on paper targets. Now from 400 to 600 rounds, it started to really shine at the range. However, NO pistol should take 600 rounds before the blessed thing shoot accurately at 21 feet.

We traded that pistol for another Sig model and then went back to the plan Jane version (black in color) of the Sig P-239 once again. This time BINGO!!! This pistol shot on the money the first magazine full, right out of the box. We did put a softer spring kit into that pistol and it now has a 5.5 double action trigger pull and single action pull of near 3.5 pounds.
