Any thoughts on this caliber?

More marketing than anything else. It occupies a niche already adequately covered by other calibers. Ammo makers need to keep coming up with stuff to sell, so here's another caliber for us. Just something new for the sake of being new is how I see it. Opinions vary.

I agree with that. It is good I guess if someone wants power in a short action, but 3/4" is no biggie to me. The recoil will be a little less than a 338, but it is doubtful that most people would notice, the 338 will also be a hair heavier, all other things equal. Ballistics wise, I don't know how the
325 is better than a 338 when the 325 can push the 200 Accubond to 2,900FPS with a good load & a 338 with equal pressures can push the
225 Gr. at about the same speed, remember the WSM's are loaded at higher pressures. Of course, if someone likes the round, fine.

This is funny, the 325 Wizzumm is the only one that made sense to me   Kind of to the 8mm Mouser what the 300 WM is to the turdy-06.
Now I can go back to despising them all

And shooting a 200 grain partition out of a 300 WSM would not be better? :-D

Oldelkhunter, good point. My Sendero 300 Mag is good for about 3,000FPS
with the 200Gr., much better Sectional Den. & BC.

Things seem to die just as well with the old standbys. How dead do you want something to be?

Or how quickly & at what yardage. Old standbys are up to most tasks but
sometimes a little more can be effectively used by those with the skills
& the properly tuned equipment.  Of course, we have discussed this alot
in other threads.

If you need the bigger bullet and think the weight savings is going to make that big a difference, I would suggest the 358 Winchester. If you can live with a standard action how about a 35 Whelen or a 338-06. All will get the job done no questions asked. You will have as much trouble finding 325 wsm as you will the 338-06.

I guess that from my point of view, the old standbys are sufficient for me. For example, a 30-06 will kill any deer-like animal just fine within 300 yards. If something is further than 300 yards, I need to get closer. If I can't get closer,  I need to work on my hunting skills. My 35 Whelen will take the bigger stuff.

New toys are always fun, though.

Yes, opinions vary on cartridges, ranges to shoot etc. What is sufficient for one is not for another. And we know there is no set range that is right for everyone & no one person has the right to impose his limits on others.
And this subject has been worn out very recently on previous threads.

I feel myself drifting, I am sorry guys, this is supposed to be about the 325WSM. I apologize for drifting off course!!   :D

Blackwolf,
in all seriousness, I do like the idea of an 8mm with a little more authority than the mauser. If I were looking to step up a little from 30 cal, but wanting a little less than the .338 Win Mag, I would certainly give the .325 WSM a peek. In .30 cal you can pretty much pick your desired velocity and find a cartridge to match it. The choices are fewer in 8MM.

I wasn't imposing limits on anyone, nomo. You'll note I never said what he should think or do. I only gave what I think about the subject. He asked for opinions and now he has mine. He's free to disregard my thoughts. Most everyone does!

Sounds good to me!  I agree, new toys are fun.

Now back to the .325, I did see a Coyote Lite last fall in 325 that was very
nice. I do see how someone could be tempted to buy that gun, if I could have warmed up to the round a little more, who knows. That rifle handled
perfectly.

Thanks for sharing, that is pretty comical stuff. For that price we could have a rifle built in other calibers & one that would shoot better than this gun, for sure!

If they wanted to make a difference they could of come out with the .325 WSSAUM - Winchester super short action uber magnum.   1.5" casing, with a 25degree bolt throw, 275grns at 3100fps, kicks like a .22short   :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D
