New G2 - Help with Sighting
« on: March 30, 2006, 03:07:51 AM »
I just received my 1st TC. New G2 with a 14" 357 bull barrel. I went to the range yesterday to see how she shoot and could not get her sighted in. The bullet is shooting 10" high at 10 yards. I adjusted the screw clockwise a a little at a time and ran out of room with it still shooting 7" high. At 25 yards I can't get on the paper. Am I doing something wrong?  Both the barrel and frame are new from Authur Brown. I had an action job done on the frame before it was sent. Any suggestions on how I might resolve this. Thanks

Dave

It might have the wrong sights on it.  T/C makes 3 different rear sights and 6 fronts.  Call T/C with the info you posted and talk to one of their gunsmiths, they will send you a sight to cure the problem for free.  I have had to do that once myself.

On a sidenote, I have a used 357 barrel that I bought a while back that I could not sight in.  Checked the sights and the previous owner has the wrong rear sight and front sight on the gun.  Luckly on that one I had an extra from a scoped gun that cured the problem.  I just wish that everyone understood the different sight heights so when that take a scope off a barrel and put the sights back on to sell that they would not just grab some out of the pile.

Thanks so much for your response. I called Thompson and they are going to send me a taller front sight. Thanks again

I bought a .357 barrel for my G2.  Shoots 15" high at 45 yds with the rear sight adjusted as much as possible.  Didn't think it was me, since my Springfield Compact will break clay pigeons at that range... didn't get a chance to solve the problem before I pcs'd to Germany.  Guess I need to get a new sight also...  thanks for making me think!
