You can always make coasters for your good Canadian beer out of the itty bitty chunks of yote hide. And the 223WSSM don't have the AI tacked to it. They just put the AI treatment to the punny little cases, HO HO. And by the way whats wrong with a good ol can of rocky mountain spring water ?..........Cover Scent.......My lord..........Things are going to pot.

Due to the regulations here I'll have to wait till Sept to start tearing them up with my new uber cannon. Your coaster idea is also golden !!!!

Ps. I know what the AI designation means, worked for a vet for a while but how does Artificially Inseminating a 223 make it faster ??

That dog was probably shot in early March. Largest dog I shot this winter was 37lbs.

:cb2: What's the matter with you guys? Can't call in a coyote? :shock: Down here, to save the pelts, we shoot 'em with 870 turkey guns loaded with BBB. Would like to use #4 buckshot, but we can't use anything bigger in Tennessee than BBB on coyotes. Now I guess we could use a slug, but that's gonna be kinda rough on the hides. Sounds like you guys are shootin so far off, your bullets need in-flight refueling!  :-D

I need to check what the regulations are like in Mississippi. I see a lot of them yotes down there south of the state line.

Anything that's too far away for me to hit with my .223 is safe, cuz I ain't gonna see it anyway!   At 400 yards my scope needs glasses. :eek:

I never was what you would call a looong range shooter and in fact have regressed back to where a .22 Hornet might be nice this fall.
You know what though...I never did own one of the .17 Rem...Could try the .204 but I already saw some pictures...Nice data can be gleaned from taming the .25-06 down abit along with a 7mm Rem....Might as well throw a .243 into this argument...Lot's of .308's out there... :eek:

And if you think four hundred yard shots are bar stories I'll give you a lesson there too!

39gr Blitz kings

Being used. The one gent who posted the 35gr Berger claimed good fur friendly results. He claimed
Around 4200fps for an average five shot velocity. Doesnt list powder used and the last I knew the factory velocity could not be achieved by the reloader do to a special type of coated powder.
The general thought here seems to be that listed bullets sometimes will work, but for the most part will give you a big hole.

IMO...I think that the .204 will work but ya better not be shooting anything under the 150yd range which in my case would be unacceptable.
Can you advise on which factory or handloads you are using?

I'm shooting a Remington XR-100...32gr V-Max, 29grs Win 748, Remington brass, CCI 400 primers, OAL 2.375" hope this helps!!!

Let me go against the grain and suggest a combo gun in .223/12ga.  Great out to 200 yards and you can use the shotgun (no. 4 buckshot) for those close shots.  Plus this combination makes  a great turkey gun.  The Remington SPR94 is one Savage makes a combo too.

The three you mentoned 22-250, 223 and 204 are all solid picks, the 17 rem is another one. I have got a 204 and its doing just fine, in the past I have used 223 and 243. I only used the 243 one season but it just had too much energy at calling ranges.  I use the 35 berger which at this point seems to be the most common for keeping fur (though the 45 gr hornady might give it a run depending on performance this winter). For me when I am calling I rarely need to shoot far, most of the time if it's going to work the coyotes are within 150 and mostly way less (I hunt in areas that are generaly open to absolute bald ass prarrie)  so the lower energy levels of the 204 for me is an advantage and what is cool is that the better bc of th 20 cals carry energy better so that at a distance it holds what it has better.

I was shooting at 300+ at a 5" paper plate(theoretical coyote kill zone) and from my shooting sticks that is a long way doable but a long way. it's humbling when you try it.
