Bushnell Banner & Nikon Buckmaster
« on: April 01, 2006, 02:55:55 PM »
Was out to the range the other day with 2 rifles; one topped with a 6-18X50mm Bushnell Banner and the other with a 4.5-14X40mm Nikon Buckmaster.  I guess I'd never shot these together during the same range session before.  I've got one other Banner scope, and don't have any complaints about them, but there's no question the image was a little clearer and sharper on the Buckmaster.  You get what you pay for, I guess.  The Bushnell ran about $129 and the Buckmaster about $275.

If you liked that comparison, you should try a Elite 4200 next to both them.  Way better yet!  I paid $320 to my door for my 4200 4-16x40 NIB.  :-)  WDO

The question to ask yourself is the difference worth $200.  In most cases it's not but that is my opinion. I'd rather spend the extra money on ammo and practice. I can't tell a difference in the Chinese Mueller2-7x32, Bushnell banner4-12x40ao, trophy3-9x40, legend3-9x40, 32003-9x50, Aetec3-9x50 that I own.  They all are the same to my eyes except the Bushnell Trophy, it has a yellowish color that I don't like.  The Bushnell Banner was never meant to compete with Nikon's top of the line scopes....Buckmaster and Monarch.  It was meant to compete with the Simmons, Tasco, and the other $100 scopes.  In that group, the Bushnell is at the top.  Heck, almost every deer I've shot and there has been many, were shot with a crappy Remington 742 with a Bushnell sportview.  I hate this rig but it has worked for many years.  I think most of us would buy top of the line optics, it's just most of us can't afford to. :D
