Simmons replaced my 3-9 Whitetail Expedition with a Whitetail Classic 3.5-10, model WTC13.  Was this a durable scope?  No Simmons jokes please, I have been very pleased with the Simmons WTE and ATV.  It has this goofy finish, but does it have good guts in it?  The view through the lenses is fantastic and the eye relief is fantastic.

Only bad thing I have ever noticed about a Simmons scope is that the cross hairs are a little fat for me.  I bet you will be able to tell us how durable it is in about 6 months.  Larry

Hold on...  I am pretty sure the Whitetail Expedition was their top end scope, wasn't it?  Seems like they should've replaced it with their Aetec...

I bought one of these in 6-20 almost three years ago.  It has great optics, but the poi does wander a small amount-not enough to worry about in the feild but I noticed it on a rimfire rifle I was shooting at the green monster.

I liked it enough to buy another one; I dropped it and need to send it in for repair.  I trust it enough to use it on my 17HMR and have done so with great success shooting PDs so it's a good fair-weather scope for a lightly recoiling rifle, up to 223 I'd say.

Actually, I thought my Whitetail Expedition is SUPERIOR optically when compared with my Leupold M8

I have a Whitetail Classic WTC18 and several Whitetail Expeditions, they are excellent optics that are no longer made with the exception of the Midway WTC18 which is apparently on a seasonal contract with the OEM which I would hope is still in the Philippines. You'll find very little, if any, negative reviews of either the WTC or WTE.

Thanks for the replies.    Regardless of the naysayers, the WTE was a great scope for 10 years until it had erector/gimbal dysfunction.  Did it work as well as my VX-2?  No, but it was extremely clear and bright.  Would I put it on a rifle for the hunt of a lifetime?  No.  Like I said the lenses on this WTC are fantastic.  Would I tote it to the range or shoot cans with it?  Yes.

Daktota, yeah, the WTE was the top of line at least once for Simmons.  Luckily, I did NOT want a Master Series AETEC.  I have heard nothing good about any Master Series offering.  Was hoping for a 44 Mag, sounds like the WTC will be okay.

My WTC is an EXCELLENT scope, better than some scopes that cost twice as much! Enjoy your new scope.

On a lighter note after having another Simmons cheapo fail this week....the new Whitetail Classic is awesome.  At 100 yards 4 clicks up and 2 clicks left moved the POI up an inch and left 1/2 inch.  I was very happy.  The lenses are clear with no glare.  The crosshairs are VERY broad as trotterlg pointed out.  Not the best for the targets but I think that they will be perfect for the woods.  Man, I am really happy with it.  Just hope that it holds up.

My only complaint is that goofy textured finish.  What were they thinking there?  I guess my second complaint would be that it is a discontinued model.
