45LC snake loads
« on: April 04, 2006, 02:48:20 PM »
My wife and I recently bought a home in the mountatins, and it is known to inhabit rattle snakes.  Has anyone ever used commercial .45LC shot loads?  Are they effective? will they harm the rifling?  I'm not looking to wipe out snakes, just the ones around my house, dog, wife and 2-year old son.

By the way, I'd be shooting them out of a 4 5/8" Old model Vaquero.

CCI makes 45LC shot shells.  They wont hurt your gun any.  If you reload, you can make your own using gas checks and shot.  Elmer Keith used them for years with no problems.
