Looking For a fmj
« on: April 05, 2006, 08:48:51 AM »
Howdy,  :D

I shoot a 50-110 and am looking for a fmj (heavy jacket) flat point (tube magazine) 500gr to 550gr. Case is 2.4" long and oal is 2.8". Need a canelure for crimping ( tube magazine again). Was wondering if any of you bullet swagers make them or could point me in the right directions. E-mailed one maker in Coos Bay Or.  who claims to make them  but got no response.  Thanks
John :

Mr. Corbin, Dave has a web site, several actually, this one is swage.com. On that site there is a directory of bullet makers. (Who use Corbin equipment, surprise, surprise!!) At the bottom of the listing there is listed the calibers of bullets that maker supplies... I suspect you can find a half dozen that can furnish your requirements in no time at all. And one may have some "on the shelf."

As I recall, Barnes (long since "sold out" to a man whose name I don't recall) had in his lists bullets of this description in several jacket thicknesses... His address should be in the back of Gun Digest annual in that directory. LUCK.

John,

If you're still interested, I can probably get those done for you.  Give me a call or email.

Paul and rbt50

You are both 6 months too late, I already delivered the 050" and 065" thick walled 500 and 525 grain -- .510 dia. FMJ bullets. John will be testing them in Africa on a cape buff, and will let everyone know how they do.
