Without a doubt it's my M77RS in 30-06. Got it new in a trade around 1975 and it will be the last rifle I would part with. It currently has a 2.5-8 Leupold mounted. Perfect combination for my needs.

Ruger #1 in 45-70 with a Leopold 1-1/2 - 5. Fun gun to hunt with. The other one I foolishly traded. That was one of their short barrelled 35 Whelens. If I could find another I grab it.

Boy, that's a tough one!  I presently own 8 Rugers, but for me its a toss-up between the venerable 10/22 and the Single-Six.  If I had to choose, I'd go with the Single six.  It has been my constant woods companion for 15 years, and has put a lot of small game on the table, and many thousands of rounds of plinking.  When my two-year old son is of age, that is the gun he will learn on.  I know it will still be ticking.

A .45 Colt chambered stainless Bisley commonly referred to as an Acusport Bisley.  Got at least one of each of the chambering so far but this one get's used.

I have a lot of Ruger rifles and revolvers and  up until two weeks back  it was my flat top 44mag.  Now it's my "Bowen"  Ruger. But you would never see me part or change the old flattop. My wife says I break out in a sweat every time I see an old model Blackhawk. She may be right cause I sure have given enough of them a home! :-)  There is somthing about the Ruger Blackhawks and Bisley's that just get me going.

Blkhawk73: I like your Bisley too!  Just look at it, it's begging to go hunting!

It's really hard to choose, but it'd have to be a toss up between my 77 MK-II 223, and my 357 stainless Blackhawk.

Ruger#1   30-06  It was perfect out of the box, trigger is sweet, and with my handloads, one shot-one kill is common. The best load so far for MOA is 125gr TNT,then deer load 165grs.

From my selection of rugers I would Have to go with my m77 Wal/blue 6mm or my Lam/stainles special run m77 270wsm. Both are hole for hole accurate.

ps- I must add my 77-17hmr to the list, what a shooter.

pss - this ain't fair ,to have to pick just one ,if you are a real ruger man

I've got a few, but I would have to pick my "new" 7 1/2 inch, Stainless, Ruger Super BlackHawk in 44 Magnum!

Only had it about 2 weeks now!
It's already been shot a lot!

It could be my 10-22 (first Ruger)
or
my Single Six (first pistol)
or
my SS 4in bbl full shroud GP-100 .357 mag (beautiful gun)
or
my Mk I 5 in. Bull Barrel .22 pistol
or
my laminated SS 30-06 Mk II
or
my SS Wood Stocked Mini-14

How to choose, oh, how to choose.
I guess if it came down to it and I had to get rid of all but one, the one would be ............. :x ................
the 30-06

Very tough. I'm going to have to go with my #1 in .308. I'd also really love to check out a Gold Label SxS.

I always have a hard time with these questions. So I default to which one would be the last to go. The MKII pistol is fun to shoot and the Ruger I shoot the most. The Super Redhawk ( 44 Magnum ) has been a good hunting gun that has always preformed well. I shoot it about as much as my M77 MKII in 25-06. As far as comfort and confidence the SRH and 25-06 are about the same.

If I had to give up two of them I think it would be the pistols. The M77 shoots reloads very well is comfortable to shoot and places bullets where I need them to go. In my opinion it is a well made gun. I can see myself hunting with it until the end.

Hi, I believe this is my first post so here goes.

I've used a .340 on mostly moose and maybe 10 deer over the last 25 years.  It is time for something new and pass the old one on to my son.

My one and only Ruger is a No. 1 Tropical SS with a laminated stock in a .375 H&H.  So far I am very impressed with the way it handles.  It doesn,t have quite the range the 340 has but that is OK I can't see that far anymore either.  I think it is a GREAT RIFLE.

That would be my OM Blackhawk in .41Magnum that I've had since the '60s. It's taken everything from field mice to a mean old range cow. A close second is a NRA #1 in .338Winchester Magnum. An old hunting companion gave it to me just prior to his passing away.

This week it's my brand new P97 .45.      First .45 I've owned, and certainly not the last, now that I'm hooked on a new (for me) caliber. Matter of fact, I have a Springer Mil-spec loaded on lay-away as we speak. But the Ruger will be my close companion.  Wolfsong.

First gun I ever owned was a m77 in .243 win.  My father gave it to me when I graduated high school.  I can't tell you how many deer I have taken with it.  I still use it to this day.  And to think he originally wanted to get me a watch.

For me, it would have to be the Bisley Blackhawk in 45 Colt. I just love shooting that revolver in my favorite handgun cartridge.

Ruger 77 RSI
« Reply #23 on: April 29, 2006, 05:37:47 AM »
:D
I own and enjoy many Ruger firearms. My favorite firearm of all I own is a Ruger 77 RSI in .308. It is accurate (1.5 MOA ) with the NECG N-100 peep installed or when a scope is mounted. It is light, short and handles second to no other firearm I own. Its balance (due to the full length stock) is such that for offhand shooting or snap shooting on running game it has no peer IMO.

I don't have just one, how about three:
  1. Ruger No. 3, .375 Win, w/ either a 2.5X luepold or N.E.C.G. peep. Fast handling, compact, and chambered for one of the best Deer/Bl Bear rounds ever.
  2. Ruger M-77 RSI, .308, )Tang safety model of course), 2X7 Luepold compact.
  3. Ruger Bisley Vaquero, 44 Mag. Made perfect by the talented 'smith, Dave Clements.              CRASH87

That's a tough one.

In revolvers I have a 4-5/8" Blackhawk in .357 Mag and a 7-1/2" Super Redhawk in .44 Mag, both stainless.  Lots of fun.

The rifles include a 26" M77 MKII VT (stainless/laminate/heavy barrel/target trigger in .22-250, a 22" M77 in .257 Roberts, an M77 7mm Mag (my first Ruger) and an M77 MKII .300 Win Mag with the "canoe paddle" stock.

Guess it would be the .257 Roberts with +P handloads.

I've owned a few: m77 in .300 WM and a 10-22 but my favorite is my Red label, best double around for the money I thinks it's even better than some of the outragously priced double barrels.

There can't be just one, but I'll go with one rifle and one handgun.

The rifle:  No. 1B in .257 Roberts about 25 years old with a 4X12 Bushnell.  It's a great combination varmint/deer rifle.

The handgun:  A Blackhawk OM in .45 Colt with a brass grip frame (factory).  It's the most accurate revolver I've ever owned.
