It's alomost turkey time!

Anyone else getting the itch for turkey season?  I drive all over Upstate New York for my job, and I have never seen so many turkeys!  Some are already strutting, and a few fights between the toms.  I look forward to the opener, but does anyone else feel that the season starts too late?  I'm sure there are sound reasons, but it sure would be nice to be out there right now!

I can't wait! I get as fired up for turkeys as I do for deer, or maybe more. I wouldn't mind if it started a bit earlier, maybe April 15th, but I won't complain. It's not bad the way it is, and I've actually had lots of luck in the late season. Shot one on Memorial Day last year, and few years ago I shot one at 11:30AM on May 31st!! Never give up!

I've got my 870 all ready to go because I have never seen so many turkeys before and I definately plan on inviting a couple for dinner.  Can't wait.  Mikey.

I had a flock cross the road in front of me today. One gobbler had a beard nearly dragging on the ground.  They strut in a field on property adjacent to the woods behind the house. Only problem is...You guessed it, POSTED NO HUNTING. Landowners strictly forbid hunting on their property.  The hell of it all is that I have seen some of the biggest bucks in my life in those fields, and never in my neck of the woods.  Perhaps it's time to get into food plot farming on my ground!

Could be a worthwhile investment...Improve your property and make it more appealing to the deer than your neighbors property...

I think that you are right.  I am borrowing my buddy's roto-tiller and will be planting summer and fall plots.  Just can't stomach watching those trophy Toms and bucks hanging out just a few hundred yards from my land.  Hope to have some photos this fall for everyone.

K.K.:  ya know, those dang Turkeys are critters of opportunity.  Every time I fillup my bird feeders they see an opportunity for a free lunch.  I have had them land on the feeders just to shake seed out onto the ground where they can get at it more easily.  It's somewhat funny to watch their antics, but I just can't help but thinking I should keep my bird feeders filled up right through the end of Spring Turkey season, if ya know what I mean.............  mikey.

Recently, in our neighborhood, there are news reports of turkeys being fed by the locals.  They feed/roost in a nearby Town of Geddes vacant lot  along side the road with deer. I observed this one evening about dusk.
