353's and maybe others
« on: April 07, 2006, 12:37:38 PM »
Okay, first, I have not been able to figure out how to post pic to the forum. But I can manage it on The Firing Line, so I hope it's okay to put a link here to a photo there.

Anyway, as I understand it, the 353 is just what is now called the Model 83 in 357. The 353 designation was a marketing tool so the early 357s had a model# that was similar to the 454.

I got mine used at a gun show, and at the time of purchase, was unaware of the 353s. When Scott Williams posted a pic of his a few days ago ( Baby Got New Shoes ), It got me wondering, how many here own a 353? Does anybody know how many 357s were marketed as 353s?

I did email Freedom Arms about this, but got no reply.

Thanks,

I've got a 353 designation. 6", Factory action job and trigger overtravel stop, Magnaporintg and recessed target crown.

I'm in South Africa, so I mailed FA about a year ago to get some details on the revolver as I wasn't sure how it made its way here.

FA could only confirm that it was sold / delivered to a gun dealer in Texas and that was all.

I don't have the mail in front of me, so I don't recall the year of manufacture off hand.

Great revolver!

WL44,

Don't suppose you have a way to post a pic? I'd love to see it.
