What's your favorite arrowhead for bear, and why?

I'm planning on a first-in-lifetime bearhunt with my new bow in the Fall and I'd like some input on what to put on the front end of my arrow (shuddup wiseguy!!) to insure the highest likelihood of success.

Any good quality broadhead will work for bears. Although you might think them dangerous, they are pretty easy to kill with a bow. I have used Magnus Stingers, Thunderheads and Slick Tricks.

AVOID mechanicals.  Too many problems and the only bear that I  have seen that did not have a complete pass-through was with a mechanical.  They might be alright on turkeys but on big game a solid one-piece broadhead would be my choice. Less parts, less problems.

I've never taken a bear with a bow, and use mechanicals for deer. Though, if I were targeting bears, I'd definitely go with a fixed blade, cut on contact.  Bears have a lot of hide, fat, and muscle, and the bigger wound channel and blood trail, the better.  My buddy has taken a few with the G5 Montec, but I suppose that any quality head and a well placed shot will do the trick.  I wish I was going with you.  Best of luck.

I prefer the 4 bladed Slick Trick with 1 1/8" cutting diameter. I use this for deer, moose and bear. It leaves a good blood trail and has good stopping power.

I too agree with the slick trick head.  Never shot a bear, but seeing the HOLE it leaves through a deer makes it a great bear head, IMHO.  By leaving a hole, not just a "slice" like most three blade heads, you don't have to worry about fat or hair sealing the wound making tracking difficult.  They fly great and are real sharp out of the package.
