My dad has an older Colt Woodsman that is not being used. I have offered to put it to good use but we have no idea how to ship it. What is the safest and most reliable way to ship a handgun? Thanks.

Have Dad take it to his favorite FFL dealer and have him ship it to your FFL dealer. Cost will depend on the dealers involved, but $20-$30 on each end is about normal. You can find local FFLs at the link below.

A pistol I bought a couple months ago came to a local FFL holder by regular US Postal Service. Another local gun dealer told me he had the least trouble with USPS and that was his preference.

Only dealer to dealer transfers can go USPS on handguns. Longguns are OK provided they fit weight and size restrictions, which are generous. USPS is usually half the price of UPS when you factor in Ins.plus shipping.
