A friend has a Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt  with 4 5/8 bbl for sale $325. It has rosewood grips, super BH hammer, jeweled hammer and trigger, action job by a good pistolsmith, less than 500 rds thru gun. Alittle bluing wear at muzzle.  He is orig. owner. Good deal???

it would depend to me on how good the trigger job is and without actaualy hadling the gun myself i woulnd speculate to much. Its to easy to hack one up that is fine now and goes bad later. If its done right the gun is worth that.

Thanks Lloyd, I have had this pistolsmith do work for me and he does great work. This is an older gun without the warnings on the bbl, but not a 3 screw.

Lloyd I picked up a new in box 45/45ACP. It's the standard post warning BH with plastic box for 285.00. Found it at a gunshow. The dealer wanted rid of it. My luck but believe me this is an exception. They're mostly over 400.00 round here.

Guess even a Hillbilly gets a break once in a while. Still have it unfired in box. I bought it for the ACP cylinder and fitted such to my ole Liberty Model. Not sure what I'll do with the new 45, maybe trade. Here's a picture of the Creeker 45 along with a Colt of a friends.

It seems a bit high to me.  Unless the action job was buy a nationally known and respected/reputable gunsmith that adds very little f anything at all to the value.  Same for the jeweling and the different hammer.  Although it's a pre-warning, having this work done to it removes any colector value to it but as a shooter, maybe $285-$300.  Seems funny only that many rounds in all these years if that work has been done to it.  :?

...if anyone sees one for sale I am looking for a NM pre-warning .45 Colt with the .45 ACP cylinder with a 4 5/8" barrel. I have a matching .41 and just found a .357 yesterday for $270.00..so would like a nice .45 to complete the set.

Thanks...Bob

If a blued gun and the guy who did the action job took any metal off the sear engagement surfaces and didn't heat treat them, the action job could eventually "wear out".

Earlier this week I picked up a LNIB .45 Colt/.45 ACP for $275.00 OTD. Was holding out for a Pre-warning NM but this one will have to do until I find the right one. I have seen two others like this one in the last few weeks but neither had boxes. One dealer wanted $300 and the other $325.00.

If anyone is looking for OM .357 Magnums there is a 4 5/8" W/O box and a 6.5" with red box both in nice shape at Riley's Gun Shop in Hooksette, NH.  $325.00 each but they have a 10% off sale on all used guns till the end of the month.

Lynn, have you got plans to go back into commercial bullet casting at some point in the future? JD45

Yes I do JD. Other things rule my time at the moment. The move from Dry Creek and Barbara's new (old) house has taken my time since Jan. I've also taken a new job and will work it for a while.

The ministry work we do has also increased since moving to town so until things get lined out and settle down so I'll be laying low. Once I have the time to fully do bullets we will probably fire back up in a new location.
