shoeshoes or skis
« on: April 16, 2006, 03:54:27 PM »
Hey just wondering what you folks up north prefer shoeshoes or crosscountry skis. I had to use shoeshoes to get my bait in this spring and was how they would compare to skis. Thanks Slim

I always use a hand made pair of Alaskan snowshoes.  But if the snow is that deep I am not baiting.  The bears are probably not our yet and or low enough to worry about.

Trails are too crooked, overgrowen,  rough for skis.  Half way down I run out of snow and have to take them off anyway.  Also too steep going out for skis.  You can't carry much of a load with skis.   Give me the snow shoes, I use the handmade yukon style.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Skis are crap for anything but a nice groomed trail.  Snow shoes are the only way to go, and can go over any type of terrain.
